So close and yet so far.

Two missions in a row i needed to get units off the far end of the board. Reivers excel a this job, well normally. First mission, I got one Reiver off the board no problem, but the sergeant got caught at the edge. In the first photo you'll see we didn't have the board edge, but that book represents the far end of the board.

He managed to survive a ton of fire right up till the last volley. Died on the last shot, loosing the mission.

Tonight had a fantastic game brutal to the end, mission required me to get more units off the board than would be left behind or destroyed.  That required me to get 5 marines off the board.  3 Reivers used their grappling hooks and strategic retreats to get off the board managing to kill the enemy leader in the process, but I had to get the Intercessors off by foot.

I almost had it, managed to get lucky and to get guys around a couple of small strategic errors on my opponents part.

On the 5th turn this is how movement ended, the two troopers managed to shrug off a couple of shots and their brother marine tied up the Death Guard behind them.  Whole game win or loose came down to the final roll to see if the game went on from fifth turn to six.  Guess what, we came up with a roll to end on turn five.  My troops finished just shy of the line giving the win to a really good opponent.  All in all it was a blast of a game well fought and a nail biter.
